If the info in the last post angered you...

Here's a link to an action alert urging you to write to the FDA supporting emergency contraception and to make Plan B an over-the-counter medication. Editable pre-written letter included.

  • Thank you for that link. Although I have some restrictions about online petitions, the ease it has made for being able to voice your opinion should not be taken for granted.

When I called my legislator in opposition of the amendment to ban gay marriage, I actually got a letter from him. Personally signed. Maybe they are listening sometimes...

  • Re automated alert stuff: Well, extremists have their own juggernauts, so it's important to take the same advantage, regardless of whether it's the ideal thing or not.

That said, if the issue is extremely important to you, use the pre-fab letter as a base, personalize it, print it out, sign it, and mail it. This is much more effective than the emails. Many senators and representatives don't know what to do with the emails. But I think even if they aren't as effective, they need to get a good idea of what ALL the people think, not just a noisy few. If the rest of us are noisy, maybe we can drown the extremists out and start the move back towards an enlightened and rational society.

  • Rick Santorum always replies with a letter, even when I wrote about being embarrassed by the "man-on-dog" quote (and his attitude in general). I was suprised by his last reply letter; I learned he had sponsored the bill I was encouraging him to support.

I like these auto-letters. The text is always good & it makes me feel like I've done something.
